Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has dismissed criticisms trailing the online registration drive of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Rhodes-Vivour described attempts to mock the exercise as “laughable,” suggesting that critics were merely seeking a coping mechanism in response to what he termed a surge in registrations by ordinary Nigerians.
In a post on X, he clarified that the online process represents only the first stage of party enrollment, stressing that validation at the ward level remains the decisive step in confirming membership.
“The actual confirmation takes place at the ward level. That’s how structure works. That’s how credibility is built,” he stated.
He added that it would be interesting to see prominent political figures validate their membership at their respective wards, noting that such appearances would draw significant public attention.
“The recent attempts to mock the massive online registration drive of the ADC are honestly laughable. I understand the ‘city boys’ need a coping mechanism to accommodate the frightening numbers of ordinary people registering with the opposition.
“Let them keep tweeting while you keep registering. Worth noting, however, is that the online registration process is only the first step.
“The real confirmation happens at the ward level. That’s how structure works. That’s how credibility is built.
“So by all means, it will be such a delight to see Trump and Asiwaju show up to validate their membership at their respective wards.
“In the meantime, while they are busy crafting jokes, let’s keep growing our figures,” he wrote.
