A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Engr. Henry Agu Ndukwe Orji, popularly known as “ABROMA,” has formally resigned his membership of the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 13, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Ndi Agbo Ward, Nkporo in Ohafia Local Government Area, Engr. Ndukwe said his decision was driven by the need to pursue stronger grassroots political engagement aimed at fostering sustainable development.
According to the letter, he explained that his resignation was borne out of “a genuine desire to prioritize and pursue robust grassroots political engagements needed to drive sustainable growth and development in our society.”
He also expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to work together during his time in the PDP.
“Please accept the depth of my gratitude for the opportunities and privileges shared working together,” he stated.
Engr. Henry Agu Ndukwe Orji, JP, is a former General Manager of the Abia State Roads Maintenance Agency (ABROMA). His political career spans over two decades, beginning in 2004 when he was elected Councillor representing Ndi Agbo Ward and later served as Chief Whip of the Ohafia Legislative Council.
Beyond his public office roles, Engr. Ndukwe has also played significant leadership roles in community development. He served as President General of Agbaja Nkporo Development Union and later as Secretary General of Nkporo Development Union, contributing to grassroots development initiatives within the Nkporo community.
A holder of a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, he is also the Chief Executive Officer of Klynest International Investment Limited.
Widely known in political circles as “ABROMA,” Engr. Ndukwe has remained relevant within and outside the Abia political space due to his strong grassroots political orientation and sustained impact in community and political engagements.
Advocacy, charity, compassion and selfless community service delivery have continued to drive his passion for public service and robust political participation.
Observers say these values influenced his decision to align politically with the administration of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.
He was received by his Ward Leadership.
His defection is considered part of the ongoing political realignments in the state ahead of future electoral contests.
