President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general elections in the state.
The endorsement was given on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by members of the State Governance Advisory Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The development follows an earlier move by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, who on Monday named Hamzat as his preferred successor.
Sanwo Olu made the announcement after a closed door meeting at Lagos House, Marina, where Hamzat formally declared his intention to contest the governorship position before members of the State Executive Council and key party stakeholders.
