Operatives attached to Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force have uncovered a suspected drug storage facility in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos, recovering 425 bags of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud alongside other items linked to an alleged drug trafficking network.
The operation was reportedly carried out over the weekend at No. 10 Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate, Mende.
Police identified the suspect as 41 year old Eke Henry Ifeanyi, who allegedly used a three bedroom apartment within the compound as a warehouse for storing and distributing the banned substance both locally and internationally.
Items recovered from the premises included two electric vehicles bearing forged presidency number plates marked NYCN 10 SE, a Leopard hybrid vehicle with the same forged registration number, three Android phones, a Republic of Liberia residence permit card, two ATM cards and an Emporio Armani wristwatch.
Residents of the area disclosed that the suspect was not living in any of the apartments within the compound but allegedly used the property strictly for business operations.
According to investigators, the suspect allegedly concealed the illegal activities by storing hundreds of cartons containing thermal paper rolls commonly used by Point of Sale, POS, operators inside the apartment.
Police sources revealed that the suspect initially escaped arrest during an earlier operation but was eventually apprehended on May 19, 2026, after detectives tracked his movements.
Following his arrest, he reportedly led investigators to the apartment allegedly used as the storage facility.
Further searches reportedly uncovered bags suspected to contain Canadian Loud hidden inside one of the rooms, while the living room was filled with cartons of thermal paper rolls.
A resident of the community expressed shock over the discovery, stating that neighbours were unaware of the alleged activities taking place within the compound.
Speaking on the operation, Adegoke Jimoh, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, said the operation was successful due to intelligence supplied by a concerned resident.
He commended residents of Lagos and Ogun states for supporting security agencies with credible information capable of curbing the circulation of illegal substances.
“Following actionable intelligence received from a concerned and patriotic citizen about suspected drug trafficking operations being perpetrated by Eke Henry Ifeanyi, detectives attached to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, ZCID, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, started trailing and monitoring the activities of the suspect, an operation which lasted for some months,” Jimoh said.
“During the painstaking and thorough search operation, detectives uncovered bags containing substances suspected to be Canadian Loud stocked in one of the rooms. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect hid under the guise of selling thermal paper rolls used by POS machines to print receipts,” he added.
