The Abia Rejoice Movement has commended former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, FCA, CON, for empowering hundreds of Abians through the distribution of fully funded Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals to beneficiaries across the state.

The empowerment programme, which took place on May 31, 2026, at the Abia Rejoice Movement Office in Umuahia, brought smiles to the faces of beneficiaries drawn from different parts of Abia State.

The beneficiaries, comprising members of the Abia Rejoice Movement, Abia Arise, and small and medium-scale business owners, received POS terminals that had already been funded and activated for immediate business operations.

In addition to the POS machines, beneficiaries were assisted in registering their businesses with the appropriate government authorities and were issued relevant registration certificates, positioning them for sustainable participation in the formal business sector.

The initiative was widely described as a life-changing empowerment programme designed to promote entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and economic self-reliance among ordinary citizens.

Speaking briefly during the event, Dr. Ogah acknowledged the efforts of government in improving the welfare of citizens but noted that government alone cannot solve every societal challenge.

According to him, giving back to society remains a personal commitment and a way of sharing God’s blessings with those facing economic difficulties.

“The government has continued to do a lot to improve the lives of citizens, but the government cannot do everything. It gives me joy to put smiles on the faces of people and alleviate some of their challenges. Part of what God has blessed me with must go to people who are genuinely in need,” he stated.

The Abia Rejoice Movement described the initiative as a practical demonstration of compassion, leadership, and commitment to grassroots economic development.

The group congratulated all beneficiaries and encouraged them to make productive use of the opportunity by building viable businesses and becoming financially independent.

According to the Movement, the empowerment programme has provided many participants with a platform to start or expand their businesses while contributing to economic growth within their communities.

The group further expressed optimism that such interventions would continue to create opportunities for youths, women, and entrepreneurs across Abia State.

The statement concluded with appreciation to Dr. Uche Ogah for his generosity and commitment to human capital development, describing the initiative as a positive contribution towards improving livelihoods and promoting economic empowerment.
