A four time member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the opposition has already lost its opportunity to unseat the ruling party.

Jibrin made the assertion during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday, where he argued that the prevailing political landscape and current realities strongly favour the re election bid of the President.

According to the lawmaker, the ruling party remains firmly positioned ahead of the next general election regardless of the opposition’s strategy or eventual choice of candidate.

He further maintained that even if leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, were to unite under a single political platform, President Tinubu would still emerge victorious.

Jibrin also pointed to the perceived divisions within opposition ranks as an additional factor strengthening the President’s electoral prospects.

Speaking on the programme, he said:

“I will say on a general note, on a general scale, and with the reality on ground and all of the political dynamics that we can see, no matter how you analyse it, whether with one presidential candidate you did not imagine, whether with another candidate from Ibadan, emerging, however you look at it, the opposition lost it already.

“I used to say something, even if they come together, the President will defeat them, not to talk about when they’ve split. The president will win this election, I tell you that.”

Jibrin’s comments come amid increasing political activities and realignments across party lines as stakeholders begin positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
