Nigeria national football team head coach Éric Chelle has reached an agreement on a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation following high level discussions in Abuja.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting held at the headquarters of the National Sports Commission in Abuja on Tuesday.
Those present at the meeting included NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, NSC Director General Bukola Olopade, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, alongside Chelle.
Under the new agreement, Chelle will reportedly earn $100,000 per month, more than double his previous monthly salary of $45,000.
The revised contract also includes improved welfare provisions, with the NFF now taking responsibility for the salaries of Chelle’s assistant coaches.
The 48 year old Malian tactician was appointed head coach of the Super Eagles in January 2025 and has since overseen notable progress with the national team.
One of his biggest achievements so far came at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he guided Nigeria to a third place finish in Morocco.
The new deal reflects growing confidence in Chelle’s leadership as Nigeria continues preparations for upcoming international competitions, including World Cup qualification campaigns and continental tournaments.
