Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season despite the departure of long serving manager Pep Guardiola.
Arsenal claimed the Premier League crown last season, finishing ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United.
However, Carragher believes the Gunners will fall short in their bid to successfully defend the title.
Speaking on the Football Ramble podcast, the former England international explained why he expects Manchester City to reclaim the league crown.
“I think City.
“The reason I think City is that I think they were still close last year. I know Pep’s gone, I get that.
“When you have had the same manager for ten years, the flip side of what people will say is that it’s hard to come after him.
“Just something a little bit new. I think if Rodri left for Real Madrid, then I would not be saying that, but in terms of where they are right now.”
Carragher believes Manchester City’s strong squad and continuity, particularly with midfielder Rodri remaining at the club, give them the edge over Arsenal in this season’s Premier League title race.
