In a remarkable display of unity, reconciliation, and political maturity, the Labour Party family in Aba North has unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering support for the party’s candidate for the Aba North State Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Florence Ehuchie, with stakeholders resolving to set aside every personal interest in pursuit of a common objective, securing victory for the Labour Party in the forthcoming election.
The strategic unity meeting, convened by Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Florence Ehuchie at the residence of the Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, brought together an impressive gathering of party leaders, government officials, councillors, stakeholders, and faithful from across Aba North to consolidate support for the party’s standard-bearer.
The gathering underscored the Labour Party’s commitment to strengthening internal cohesion following the party’s nomination process. Participants unanimously agreed that the time had come to move beyond every perceived grievance associated with the primaries and channel their collective energy toward delivering a resounding electoral victory.
In separate remarks, speakers described unity as the foundation upon which electoral success is built, emphasizing that the interest of Aba North and the Labour Party must always take precedence over individual ambitions.
The stakeholders subsequently passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the candidature of Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Florence Ehuchie, assuring her of their unflinching support through political mobilization, grassroots engagement, financial contributions, and every legitimate resource necessary to ensure the party’s triumph at the polls.
Delivering one of the meeting’s defining speeches, Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike, Former Member representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, called on members to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, loyalty, and collective responsibility.
He revealed that although he had prepared to contest for the House of Representatives ticket, the party’s decision did not favour his aspiration. Nevertheless, he declared his complete acceptance of the outcome, stressing that true leadership is measured not by personal ambition but by unwavering commitment to the party’s collective success.
Hon. Ebisike urged every aspirant and supporter whose expectations were not realized during the primaries to remain steadfast and avoid bitterness, reminding party faithful that leadership opportunities come at different times.
According to him, “The opportunity given to one person today may become another person’s tomorrow. What matters most is that we remain united, because a divided house cannot achieve victory.”
He further announced his readiness to host the next stakeholders’ meeting as part of sustained efforts to deepen unity, encourage regular consultations, and strengthen collaboration across the party.
His proposal received overwhelming endorsement from renowned industrialist Chief Jerry Kalu (Osmiri), who immediately pledged to host the subsequent stakeholders’ meeting after Hon. Ebisike, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining the culture of dialogue, inclusiveness, and solidarity within the Labour Party.
The initiative also received the endorsement of Engr. Alicho Otti, Secretary of Aba North Labour Party Stakeholders, who commended the spirit of reconciliation demonstrated by party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Florence Ehuchie expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and members of the Labour Party for the confidence reposed in her.
She appealed to every stakeholder to embrace forgiveness, unity, and collective responsibility, emphasizing that her emergence as the party’s candidate should be regarded as a victory for the entire Labour Party family rather than an individual achievement.
She assured members that her candidature belongs to every supporter of the Labour Party, irrespective of previous political preferences during the nomination process, pledging to uphold an inclusive leadership style that recognizes the contributions of every stakeholder.
Hon. Ehuchie paid special tribute to Architect Uche Ukeje, GADA Chairman, for his exceptional support and confidence in her aspiration even before they met physically.
According to her, Architect Ukeje publicly declared his support and endorsement after their telephone conversations, demonstrating uncommon faith in her leadership and capacity long before their first face-to-face meeting. She described his gesture as one she would always cherish and deeply appreciate.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the success of the Labour Party, renewed commitments from stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilization, and a unanimous resolution to work collectively for the party’s victory in Aba North.
