Turkish journalist Mehmet Özcan has claimed that concerns over Victor Osimhen’s availability last season are among the reasons Europe’s biggest clubs are reluctant to commit to a three digit transfer fee for the Galatasaray striker.
His comments come after Galatasaray reportedly rejected a €60 million bid from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur for the Nigeria international.
Osimhen has been strongly linked with a move away from the Turkish Super Lig champions during the current transfer window.
The 27 year old has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus.
According to Özcan, the striker’s fitness record has become a major consideration for clubs weighing a big money move.
“Osimhen’s inability to reach 50 matches during the season is one of the reservations of Europe’s elite clubs,” Özcan said.
“This is what is preventing clubs from making a three digit transfer fee investment.”
Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli and has won two Turkish Super Lig titles with the club. The reigning champions are understood to value the prolific forward at more than €120 million.
