A United States based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten Montague York, has urged the public not to be distracted by what it described as a smear campaign over allegations linking President Bola Tinubu to drug trafficking.
The firm made the call in a statement published on its verified X account on Tuesday.
It claimed that the release of Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, records concerning Tinubu would trigger fresh attempts by the Presidency and its supporters to divert attention from the allegations.
“Since we have provided the world with access to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, court records concerning Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, we expect him and his enablers to once again launch a new round of smear campaigns to distract the public from the truth about his alleged heroin trafficking past,” the firm stated.
Von Batten Montague York also alleged that attempts could be made to discredit its representative, Dr Von Batten, through claims about his identity and personal history.
“They will say that Dr Von Batten was born Ikemefuna Okeke, false. They will say that Dr Von Batten took his wife’s name, false. They may even say that Dr Von Batten is Atiku Abubakar’s secret son, again, false,” it said.
The firm urged the public to remain focused on the allegations and the FBI records it referenced.
“The world must not allow the Nigerian Presidency to distract the public from the serious allegations concerning President Tinubu. Stay focused,” it added.
The firm further accused Tinubu of allegedly using distraction tactics to shift attention away from the FBI records.
“Do not fall for the distraction tactics of President Tinubu, an alleged heroin trafficker desperate to shift attention away from his FBI records. Stay focused,” the statement said.
The allegations contained in the statement remain claims by the US based firm and have not, in themselves, established criminal liability against President Tinubu.
