Victor Osimhen has praised Galatasaray following their impressive 4 to 2 away victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
The Turkish Super Lig champions defeated the French side at the Stade Pierre Mauroy on Tuesday night, with Osimhen scoring their fourth goal.
The strike marked the Nigerian international’s first Champions League goal of the season. The 27 year old also earned the Man of the Match award for his performance.
Reacting after the game, Osimhen expressed delight at the result and commended the atmosphere created by Lille supporters.
“I love this stadium. The fans are incredible. We had a tough match. I’m very happy for our team; we won. I also wish Lille good luck in their next matches,” Osimhen said, according to Galatasaray’s official website.
He acknowledged the difficulty of the contest, noting that Lille had taken the lead before Galatasaray fought back to secure all three points.
“Lille players are very tough. They even took the lead. We managed to win the match together as a team. I’m happy we got the three points.”
Yunus Akgün and Aleksei Batrakov also scored for Galatasaray, while Nabil Bentaleb scored an own goal in the encounter.
Galatasaray will return to Champions League action on Tuesday, November 3, when they host Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.
