Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman has explained why his side settled for a 1 to 1 draw against VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Goals from Jamie Leweling and Julian Alvarez ensured both teams shared the points in Germany.
Lookman, who plays for the Spanish club, contributed to Atletico Madrid’s comeback by providing the assist for Alvarez’s second half equaliser.
Speaking to the club’s media, the Super Eagles forward acknowledged Stuttgart’s strong start and the difficulty of playing away from home.
“I think they obviously started very well. A strong team playing away from home is never easy,” Lookman said.
He added that Atletico Madrid continued to push for a better result but were hindered by a sending off that left them with 10 players.
“We kept pushing, but unfortunately, we went down to 10 men,” he said.
Atletico Madrid will return to domestic action this weekend when they face Deportivo in LaLiga.
