The Coalition of Northern Groups said on Thursday in Kano that the quit notice it issued in its Kaduna Declaration did not mean that it would use force to eject the Igbo from the North.

In their remarks at the Zonal Town Hall Meeting of the North-West Zone, the spokesman for the coalition, Suleiman Abdulazeez, and the co-chairman of the group, Shettima Yerima, said the goal was to save the integrity and unity of the country and to ensure a peaceful society.

While stressing that the Kaduna Declaration still stood, he stated that there were far broader items in the agenda.

He said, ‘’People only focus on the quit notice rather than the circumstances that led to the Kaduna Declaration. The success of such agitation is that IPOB, governors, leaders and the international community are now lending their voices to the issue at stake.

“At the close of the day, we should be able to arrive at an enduring solution that will be acceptable to all contending parties.’’

He said the coalition had no plan to use force or violence to advance its agitation.

Yerima added, “To us, we don’t intend to use any force, we don’t intend to use any violence; we don’t intend to use any means to chase anybody out, but what we are saying also is that if you believe in Biafra, please go back to your Biafra area, but if you believe in Nigeria, please stay and let us build a better society of our dream, the Nigeria that all of us would be proud of.”
