It all started on March 5th 2014 when Rev Paul Emeka violated the Constitution of Assemblies of God Nigeria by seeking an order of Interlocutory Injunction to stop the General Committee meeting of Assemblies of God Nigeria were allegations of embezzlement against him would have been handled.
The Constitution and Bye-Laws of Assemblies of God Nigeria is very clear,the rigidness of the Church Constitution has made it Impossible for any activity that has no Spiritual background to take place in the Church
Assemblies of God is purely a voluntary religious organization to which membership cannot be compelled by a court
Paul Emeka was ordained a priest of the church and was ultimately elected the General Superintendent of the church in November, 2010 for a term of four (4) years. The duties of the General Superintendent are set out in the constitution of the church which also made provisions for the discipline of its officers without exception. The church was never incorporated or registered as a sole proprietorship. No officer or office of the church was vested with absolute powers or authority.
Allegations were made against Rev Dr Paul Emeka by some members, officers and offices of the church who demanded for a meeting between him and other members of the church to resolve the issues. Paul Emeka because of his arrogance considered it to be too condescending for him to accede to those requests. He declined the opportunities which were offered for those complaints to be deliberated upon.
He flouted the Constitution of Assemblies of God Nigeria,approach the Enugu High Court with suit No. E/82/2014 and while that suit was still pending Arrogant Paul Emeka filed another one with suit No. E/202M/2014 for the enforcement of his fundamental rights. Then on March 6th 2014,Members of the Church unanimously moved that he be Suspended from the Church for violating the Constitution which he ought to Protect,and Yes he was Suspended
Assemblies of God is noted for its uncompromising nature in melting out suspension to erring members and officers of the Church.
The Noise by Paul Emeka that his right to fair hearing was breached is foolish and total Trash because had he yielded to the invitation to discuss and deal with the complaints of the members of the Church,the fair hearing which he is now seeking in the court,would have been given to him in the Church.
His arrogancy made him to insists that as the General Superintendent of the church he was not amenable to discipline by the members,claiming that those members wrongly proceeded to meet behind him and handed down a decision of dismissal against him.
But he was offered the opportunity to be heard and he turned it down.
Paul Emeka on the last Count has Suspended not fewer than 50 Members of Assemblies of God Nigeria either on the capacity of the Enugu District Superintendent,Assistant General Superintendent or even when he held sway as the General Superintendent of the Church.
