The Appeal filed by the Rivers State governor Barrister Nyesom Wike against the Judgement of Justice Dougban Mensen led five member Appeal court panel of Justices which upheld the Judgement of Justice Sulieman Ambursa led Rivers State governorship election petition Tribunal which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh poll in Rivers will be coming up for hearing on Wednesday 27th January 2016,PUO REPORTS has learnt.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State had filed an Appeal at the Apex Court praying a reversal of the Judgement of the Abuja Court of Appeal last month which gave a go ahead order to INEC to conduct a fresh poll in Rivers state within 90days.
Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers state had after the April 11th governorship election filed a petition at the Rivers State governorship election petition Tribunal seeking an order that the Governorship election which took place in Rivers state failed integrity test,therefore INEC should be ordered to conduct a fresh Poll.
That prayers was answered by Justice Suleiman Ambursa led Rivers State governorship election petition Tribunal in October 24th 2015,the Judgement of the Tribunal was also upheld by the Court of Appeal.
It was gathered that the Supreme Court will fix a date for its Judgement once the Appeal has been heard this wednesday.
