All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said the alarm being raised by Abia State Government over alleged burning of Independent National Electoral (INEC) headquarters in Umuahia is a sign that the government is plotting to cause mischief and mayhem in the state and blame their perceived enemy.
This was contained in a release issued by the state Chairman of APGA, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere and made available to Daily Sun in Umuahia.

APGA reacting to a news item on the state radio BCA, credited to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr. Godwin Adindu and published in some national dailies, alerting the public of uncovering a plot by anti-democratic forces to burn down INEC headquarters in Umuahia, said the statement was a ploy to deceive the public, ahead of government’s alleged plan to burn down INEC facility in the state to cover the evidences therein that were against the government, as the government allegedly did at Obingwa INEC office on August 2.
Ehiemere said government had an obligation to apprehend the would-be suspects and prosecute them, adding that the reason the state government was shouting now was to absolve itself of any blame after it had allegedly executed the plot.

“ They want to burn the place and turn around to point fingers at another direction as they did in the case of Obingwa.
“APGA has no reason to destroy evidence at INEC office, which it requires to prove its case at the tribunal and we have implicit confidence in the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to deliver judgment in favour of our governorship candidate, Dr Alex Otti,” he stated
