On Tuesday the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided that Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, can feature in Nigeria’s 2021 AFCON qualifier against Lesotho on this evening in Lagos.

The Super Eagles confirmed this in a tweet via its official Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

Recall that Iwobi’s COVID-19 positive result became a subject of controversy, as he was forced to miss Nigeria’s 1-0 victory against Benin Republic last weekend.

The Everton midfielder was replaced by Galatasaray’s Henry Onyekuru for the game.

“CAF has cleared Alex Iwobi to play today’s game against Lesotho,” Super Eagles’s tweet read.

“The Super Eagles player had earlier tested positive following the COVID-19 tests conducted on the Super Eagles squad on arrival in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.

“However, Alex Iwobi’s further COVID-19 tests have returned negative. Clina Lancet Laboratories in Victoria Island, Lagos conducted the PCR tests. With this, Alex Iwobi is up for selection today.”
