The Department of State Security is taking appropriate action to tackle the threatening speech against the Igbos by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, the service has said.
Answering questions at the National Information Centre in Abuja on Wednesday, Spokesman for DSS, Marylyn Ogar, said the service was handling the matter without giving details of the action that it was taking.

Ogar said, “We are taking appropriate action. Yesterday, the service had once again, warned all Nigerians not to fan the embers of discord within the country.
“If the presidential election had come and gone successfully, we wouldn’t want people to begin to wipe up sentiments unnecessarily. So we are handling it.”
Also answering a question on the fate of more than 200 girls that were kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School Chibok on April 14, 2014; Spokesman for the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, said the search for the girls continues.
He said, “The search for the Chibok girls continues and that is why even with the capture of Bama and the rest, the military has not retreated. Again, until it is concluded, we cannot believe speculative conclusions.
“The assurance that I give you is that everywhere is being combed.”
Speaking on the forthcoming election on Saturday, Omeri said everything was being done to ensure the safety of Nigerians, especially those living in vulnerable areas, as they go to cast their votes.
He said, “As efforts are being made to ensure a hitch-free exercise, the NIC wishes to reassure Nigerians, especially those living in communities that recently experienced some security challenges arising from the activities of Boko Haram resurgence, that our military and security forces are, more than ever, very ready to ensure the protection of lives and property, while securing the country’s territorial integrity.
