Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili has reiterated his call on the people of Rivers State to vote massively for the Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the PDP in next Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.
This is even as the serving deputy governor of Rivers State, Engr Tele Ikuru re-affirmed his stance that a vote for Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike represents the liberation of Rivers State from the shackles of political predators and traitors of the Niger Delta.
Both leaders spoke at a Special Easter Sunday Celebration at Our Lady Holy Rosary Chaplaincy in Port Harcourt.
Dr Odili urged the worshippers to troop enmasse on April 11 to send forth a clear message that Rivers State is committed to development as exemplified in Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
He explained that after eight years of political and developmental neglect, the people of the state need a compassionate and visionary leader to wipe away their tears.
He said: “I have come here today as your former governor, your brother in Christ, your Knight of Saint John International, your Papal Knight since 1992, and your Papal Knight Commander since 2009. We have come here in this fastest growing Parish to say that we are standing with Barrister Nyesom Wike for the governor of Rivers State”.
In his remarks, Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr Tele Ikuru said that all Rivers people are under obligation to vote Barrister Wike so as to ensure that good governance returns to the state and all the organs of the state government revived to start work immediately.
He said that the forthcoming governorship election in the state is a day that Rivers people and Niger Deltans will stand up to ask for liberation from their oppressors.
He said: “As we approach next Saturday, I urge the people of Rivers State to stand and repeat what they did on March 28. Come out in peace and vote for Barrister Nyesom Wike and the PDP. “
Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assured that he would live up to the expectations of the people of the state by ensuring the execution of pro-people projects, basic amenities, respect for the rule of law and entrenchment of separation of powers.
The Easter Church Service was attended by Ministers of the Federal Republic, Senator, Senators-elect, serving House of Representatives members and members elect and top PDP leaders.
