The Vice President elect, Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday received over 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party who decamped to the All Progressives Congress in Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna state.

Mr. Osinbajo who was in the state to solicit support for the party’s governorship candidate ahead of Saturday’s elections, said the PDP did great harm to Nigerian using religion and playing divisive politics.
Prominent among the decampees were a former member of House of Representatives, Ruth Ango, former Commissioner and Attorney General, Zakari Sogfa, and 114 immediate past councillors from eight local government areas of the zone with thousands of their supporters.
While speaking during a meeting with the leadership of churches in Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, Mr. Osinbajo said that righteousness not manipulation of religion for political power will redeem Nigeria.
“The PDP has done more harm to Nigeria using religion and playing the religious card to just consolidate power, it is dangerous and more deadly for this nation. I am here to say that only righteousness exalts a nation, the people of Southern Kaduna must rise up and ensure that manipulators of religion are defeated,” he said.
“What Nigerians need is nothing but a government that will make necessary sacrifice for peace and development of the country. When I was nominated as running mate, many criticized me that why will I agree to pair with an extremist? We all know it is manipulation, Buhari never participated in anything related to extremism. It was purely blackmail and at the end the truth is out. I urged the people here to be firm and stand for what will bring about common good,” Mr. Osinbajo said
In his remarks, the Kaduna state All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Nasir El-Rufai, said “I am pleased with the people of Southern Kaduna because we did well during the presidential election, the results clearly shows that PDP is being wiped out of Southern Kaduna and the entire state.
“Before they used to write results but this time around, the people insisted for change, we got one House of Reps seat, it was almost three but for some deliberate diversion and we will go to court,” Mr. El-Rufai said.
