OPINION: Just Imagine By Linus Hagher

When PMB came in, he upgraded the little mosque in Presidential Villa to a Jumaat Mosque. He said that was to prevent traffic gridlock around the National Mosque on Friday whenever he is there to pray. We didn’t see anything good in that.
He has also stopped the action of blocking the road leading to the Abuja Airport for hours whenever he is to ply the road. No applause. He has allowed the NASS to decide their leadership. Do we care? PMB’s government is moving without Ministers. We feel like strangling him. DSS are on the track of those who did some dirty jobs in the past administration. They say he is witch-hunting PDP members. He gave some states money to pay salaries, they say he breached the constitution. He appointed an Acting boss for INEC. They say she is from north. They forget that Jega is the first man from north to occupy that position since the history of election in Nigeria. Some say he can’t speak good English. They forget that he never claimed to have a Ph.D. They say it was an insult that he was received on arrival in US by that country’s Ambassador to Nigeria. Was Airport reception the purpose of his visit to the most powerful country in the world? He was invited to the US and he met with the country’s President, Barack Obama the VP, Joe Biden, Secretary of State, John Kerry and other key persons in that democracy. He was hosted at Blair House, the Oval Office and other strategic locations. Yet we don’t feel proud. We forget that the last time a Nigerian President visited the US, the only privilege he enjoyed was a hotel accommodation. Just yesterday, PMB bluntly told the Americans that WE WILL NEVER ADOPT same sex marriage. If it was someone else, the person would not have been that emphatic in putting off that issue and that would have opened the floodgate of unnecessary pressure from the “white people”. Please, politics is not just about negative opposition. So lets appreciate things that are right and constructively criticise those we think can be done better. You can give me a political party but that wont matter because I have the right to decide who enjoys my sympathy.
