The Rivers State Governorship election Tribunal Sitting In Abuja Friday Struck Out the Petition brought by Mr.Tonye Princewill, candidate of the Labour Party in the Rivers State April Governorship Poll. The Tribunal Ruled Friday that Mr.Tonye Princewill lacked the Locus Standi(Right) To Challenge the electoral Victory Of Barr.Nyesom Ezenwo Wike following the failure of his party to notify INEC on the 21days stipulated in the Electoral Act 2010 as Amended.

The Tribunal while delivering its judgement stated that the failure of the Labour Party To Notify INEC on the 21days Stipulated in the Electoral Act as amended violated section 85(1) OF the act which made it clear that Political Parties must notify the electoral Body within 21days before the conduct of its Primary Election to Choose its candidate.

Tonye Princewill Alongside Dakuku Peterside of the APC and others had approached the Tribunal seeking for an order for a fresh election in Rivers State.

Recall that the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Abuja few weeks ago struck out two Petitions brought by APC candidates for Akuko Toru/Asari Toru and Ogba Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituencies on similar grounds.

But on the case of Dr.Dakuku Peterside of the APC,the tribunal said it shall rule on the issue of eligibilty alongside the Petition by the APC
