The Chairman of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to Investigate Rotimi Amaechi administration over the Sale of Valued Assets of Rivers State and other related matters, Justice George Omereji has assured that the commission will work within the law and grant all parties fair hearing.

Justice Omereji spoke at the inaugural sitting of the Commission at the Chief Judge’s Ceremonial Court in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He noted that the commencement of the sitting of the commission was delayed because of suits filed by former Governor Rotimi Amaechi and one of his former commissioners.

He stated that the commission resolved to wait for the suits to be dispensed with because it believes in due process.

The Chairman said that the parties are permitted to engage their own lawyers.

He noted that the commission is a fact finding one, not a court of law. He noted that the commission can only make recommendations while the decision and action rests with the State Government.

In his remarks, Counsel to the Commission, Dr Zacheus Adangor said that he will lead the commission to do undiluted justice.
