OPINION: Amaechi,Buhari and the Appointment Of SGF By:Jerome Okere

The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended ) stipulates that the President shall appoint a person to serve as Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The presumption of this entails that the President shall appoint any person he chooses and so desires.

Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the veteran leader of modern democracy in Nigeria is incontestably competent and qualified to be appointed. Having not been appointed has no relationship with the integrity of Amaechi. The incontrovertible fact is that Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is an inner caucus member of President Mohammadu Buhari ‘s Government.
Those who make or may intend to make issues over the appointment are mere mortals with human inclinations and I presuppose that they are happy that Amaechi was not appointed. They are those that failed because non of them is a spiritualist to have even known what Amaechi intends to be in Buhari ‘s administration.
The Amaechi I kwow is a resolute man, very clear headed and not perturbed by human considerations. I am very sure that all those who are celebrating or feeling disappointed are not Amaech’s friends. In as much as I would have celebrated th appointment of Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, I am not sad or feeling disappointed because Machiavelli in his book -The Prince , posited that ‘ the end justifies the means.
One inevitable fact today is that Amaechi in his tyranny of courage sacrificed everything to unseat the corrupt Government of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan which has engendered hope for Nigerians. Indeed Nigeria and the world are celebrating him. He will definitely be rewarded by Buhari’s Government. Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! to my leader, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. May the benevolent Almighty inestimable God graciosly guide and guard you and bless you very densely in Jesus name, amen.
