It has come to our notice the unwarranted attack on the person of Promise Uzoma Okoro who is the PRO of AMPON, Abia State Chapter,  by the media team and Online agents of Abia State Government because he was discharging his duties as assigned to him by the Organization.

Ordinarily, we would not have loved to join issues with the state government and its media handlers but because the personality and integrity of our member is on the line, we will respond to clear the air and place issues in the right perspective.

Promise Uzoma Okoro

A letter emanated from the office of the secretary of AMPON and was duly signed by the president of the Organization, and the PRO being Promise Uzoma Okoro was mandated to submit and follow up the letter. The letter was titled “LETTER OF INTRODUCTION” and was addressed to the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. The said letter was basically to introduce the Association to the new administration and also seek for audience with the governor for an interactive session where members could ask questions on his plans for the state, his challenges and way forward. This meeting would enable AMPON understand the direction of the government and project the state in good light.

But it is unfortunate that the media team of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu led by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Godwin Adindu have turned around to paint the visit negative and use online media thugs to attack the person and integrity of Promise Uzoma Okoro.

Godwin Adindu

AMPON as an Organization regret deeply the approach of the state government to this simple matter. We have noticed the government does not want a mutual relationship between her and Online Media Professionals in the state based on their reaction so far. We will however maintain on our constitutional responsibility of informing Abians and Nigerians on true happenings in the state and beyond.

God bless Abia!
