Imo State: A State Where Salary Of A Worker Is not A right But A Privilege

Despite the assurance by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State that workers in the state will smile to the bank, there is a new twist in town in the State, PUO REPORTS has gathered.

Some health workers in Imo State last month staged a massive protests in Owerri the Imo State Capital over Ten Months Salaries being owed them by the State government.

Governor Rochas Okorocha during a Press conference few weeks ago told The world that he has given approval for the payment of Salaries of all government agencies, Ministries and Parastatals.

But the new gist in Imo State is that the government has said that Salaries to workers is not their right But A mere Privilege according to Dr Kelechi Okpalaeke who is the Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Public enlightingment and strategy.

The Imo State government has also introduced a process which Mandate workers to Sign and fill an undertaken form before their Salaries can be paid.

Most of the Imo State civil servants who are ready to follow the process due to the hardship being esperienced by them were prevented from doing so by their Union leaders who are protesting the introduction of such new method by the Owelle led administration.

It is 23rd December already, while Civil servants in Cross River State are jubilating due to the payment of their Salaries, Imo State civil servants are making offensive comments against governor Rochas Okorocha.

Who is to be blamed?
