Shocked by the defeat suffered at the Supreme Court, Disgraced National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr John Odigie-Oyegun has formally hired Pro-APC medium Sahara Reporters to embark on a false smear media campaign against Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike
Investigations revealed that the Disgraced APC National Chairman, Oyegun also hired an Abuja based online medium, one newspaper owned by the APC National Leader, a few Lagos based newspapers and the APC national television, Channels Television for the fruitless plot
Using a phantom group, Peoples Coalition against Corruption, Sahara Reporters rehashed the same allegations contained in several press releases by the Publicity Secretary of Defeated Rivers State APC, Mr Chris Finebone and the State Party Chairman, Davies Ikanya.
Scan News gathered that the allegation being peddled by Sahara Reporters and other media associates of the APC is meant to distract attention from the mass celebration and praises that greeted the Supreme Court judgment.
Information available reveal that John Odigie-Oyegun met with Sahara Reporters representatives after Dakuku Peterside submitted the press statements of his state chapter to him after a lamentation session at the APC headquarters.
It was learnt that financing for the smear campaign against Governor Wike is under the sponsorship of Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State, a personal friend of indicted former governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Documents available indicate that contrary to the allegations made by the Rivers State APC through the phantom group being sponsored by John Odigie-Oyegun TETFUND and UBEC are autonomous parastatals that independently manage their finds, without control from the Federal Ministry of Education.
Further investigation show that the Education Sector has been sustained by the two interventions parastatals, TETFUND and UBEC.
The smear campaign sources close to the APC was part of the plot aimed at incapacitating Governor Wike if his election was nullified. The plan by the Buhari administration was to arrest him on these phantom allegations and stop him from contesting the rerun.
The APC National Chairman and President Muhammadu Buhari have security reports at their disposal that APC lacks the capacity to win any election against Wike.
Sources at the APC National Secretariat indicate that the sponsorship of the smear campaign will continue for several months to come.
