Former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Julius Lloyd, has said that former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan wanted to use five members of Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Lloyd, who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said service chiefs were already in the state as at July 2013, when the House of Assembly was engulfed in crisis, to arrest Amaechi as soon as he was impeached.

He said, “The former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan wanted to see Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi impeached. Amaechi did not do anything to her or her husband, but the treasury of the state was what was at stake. In fact, she had different moles and she wanted to use them to actualise her plot.

“There were obvious plans to impeach former Governor Amaechi. The former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, told me when I turned myself in that all the service chiefs have been sent to Port Harcourt to get him on handcuffs. I am telling you on oath.”

Lloyd, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Emohua constituency in the March 19, rerun election, said he regretted that the fight and blood letting in the House of Assembly on July 9 and July 10, 2013, could have been averted.

The former House leader said, “The only regret I had is that the fight and blood-letting could have been averted. But I have no regret that I stood firmly to forestall an illegality. My only regret is that, Michael Chinda, my friend and brother, suffered bodily injury.
