Fulani herdsmen attack 5 farming communities in Ibadan for over ‘7 hours’

A group of suspected Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday, attacked farms in Lagun, Iyana Offa, Offa, Atagba, Lapata and their surrounding communities in Lagelu Local Council Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the farmers, the armed herdsmen carried out the attack at night and in the process, a guard was injured while they made away with many valuables.
Villagers said more than N500,000 was stolen by the attackers, who also carted away with clothes, shoes and foodstuffs in an operation that took place for more than seven hours.
Punch Newspapers reports that the total number of the attackers ranged between 30 and 40.
Owner of one of the farms, Ayodele Adigun, urged the Federal Government to intervene in the frequent Fulani herdsmen attack on the communities lying on the border between Oyo and Osun states.
He said the situation could result into an ethnic clash, except the government wades into the matter.
Another worker, Haruna Usman, managed to escape death after he was shot by one of the attackers as he was returning to the farm.
“The robber who chased me was speaking Fulani language to me. Later, he spoke Hausa, telling me to stop. He threatened me that he would shoot me if I didn’t stop.
