Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said the clamour for a president of Igbo extraction may not be actualised in Nigeria if the people of the South-East geo-political zone do not have unity of purpose.

Okorocha, who addressed newsmen in Owerri yesterday, said the Igbos needed to come together and gather their resources to make a head-way in the presidency project.

He, however, stressed that Nigeria needs a personality with the best ideas and vision instead of the agitation for Igbo presidency which laid more emphasis on where the person comes from.
He said though “there is the need for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction with passion”, political power must not be shared based on where a person comes from, but rather on what such personality can offer.
While confirming the receipt of a threat from the militant group known as the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), Okorocha described the development as one of the major challenges facing both the state and the nation.
He gave an assurance that efforts were being made to tackle the situation.
