Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has called for an end to Solidarity Visits.

Ikpeazu in a Statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Enyinnaya Appolos, thanked  Abians for the massive and unprecedented  outpouring of love and solidarity from all segments of Abia society to him since the attempted coup against his government by desperate power seekers

The Statement Reads in Parts:

“The Governor is particularly grateful to all those who prayed for him, paid solidarity visits and called to express support to him and his government”

“He is praying that the Almighty God, who alone richly rewards and answers all good prayers, reward and answer their fervent prayers in Jesus name”.

“Governor Ikpeazu enjoins all Abians, residents and friends of the state to continue praying for him and his government from their homes, churches and other worship places; for as the Biblical King Solomon asked in 1King 3:9 “who is able to govern this great people” of God without Him?

The Governor has particularly taken note of the cost and risk of  Abians who mobilize to Umuahia to pay solidarity visits to him, almost on daily basis, he wishes to underline the fact that their sacrifices are well appreciated. In return he is promising to further demonstrate his appreciation by waking up daily more determined and ready do his best to serve Abians better and take decisions that will enhance the well being of the people.

Furthermore, the Governor also wishes to call on all Abians to please return to their usual daily pursuits and end further solidarity visits associated with the last attempted coup. He remains confident that the judiciary will deliver fair and equitable justice that will reaffirm the mandate given to him by the majority of Abians in the April 11th and 25th, 2015.

Governor Ikpeazu is also grateful and appreciative of the seriousness of President Buhari in fighting corruption, affirming the rule of law and also stop corrupt individuals from using illegally acquired wealth to buy immunity from prosecution through the backdoor. His administration will continue to support the war against corruption as he is convinced that corruption, wherever found, is antithetical to peace and development of our people.

“‘To his political opponents and those genuinely interested in moving our dear state forward, he urges them to join hands with him in this task of writing more great chapters in Abia’s development  history. His doors are always open to welcome all Abians, regardless of political disposition, to listen to suggestions on how things can be done better for the greater good of our people.

He is reaffirming his commitment to continue to treat all citizens equally and spread development across the state while prioritizing areas of greater or more urgent need.

Those without skeletons in their cupboard have nothing to fear, regardless of whether they supported him or his rivals. The Statement Concluded
