Abia State Commissioner Of Education Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji has made shocking revelations about the State Owned Polytechnic(Abia State Polytechnic) Aba.

According to the Commissioner,the Management of Abia State Polytechnic used a whooping N24Million to renovate a single Lecture Room in the Institution.

The Education Commissioner who was reacting to a Facebook commentator who asked the Government to look into the issue of the non payment of Salaries particularly the plight of the Lecturers of the Abia State Polytechnic Aba who has embarked on an Indefinite Strike over the non payment of their Eight Months Salaries also revealed that the State owned Polytechnic  has 43 bank accounts,collected nearly 1.2billion in 13 months from students and yet cannot pay its staff.

“@IamDman, thank you for mentioning Abiapoly. That school has 43 bank accounts. Yes, 43. Nigeria has just 25 banks. It was not OVI that created those 43 accounts. Abiapoly has 45 staff in the bookstore. My school in Canada with more than 50,000 students has 8 staff in the bookstore. It was not OVI that employed them. Abiapoly has more than 800 non-tutorial staff. Yes, more than 800 non-tutorial staff. It was not OVI that employed them. Abiapoly spent 24 million to renovate a room. Yes, 24 million naira. It was not OVI that did that. Abiapoly collected nearly 1.2billion in 13 months from students and yet cannot pay its staff. Continue to blame Dr. Ikpeazu for the irresponsibility of everyone else in Abia State”. The Commissioner Said in a Response to the comment by a Facebook user

Prof Mgbeoji said the details he revealed  were unveiled by a panel his Ministry  set up to look into the problems facing the State Owned Polytechnic.

“The place needs to he cleaned up, the problems at Abiapoly are self-inflicted wounds, The school is overstaffed, too many structural problems that require bold action. he Stated
