A former governor of Ebonyi State, Senator Sam Ominyi Egwu, has disclosed that some aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are closing ranks with their counterpart of the embattled People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to form a formidable opposition political grouping to wrest power from the ruling federal authorities in the 2019 general elections.

Dr. Egwu, a member representing Ebonyi north senatorial zone, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Commerce and Industry, disclosed this yesterday, but stated that the formation of a new party was not the best option.

Speaking with journalists in his Umuebe country home, Ohaukwu local government area, also a former Minister of Education, condemned formation of new parties by some politicians each time their political groups are facing challenges which he said was not the case in advanced countries.

‘’Yes, some people are of the view that a new party should be formed because of the lingering crisis. But one thing I believe is that in as much as I know that forming new party may be good option because the situation we have found ourselves in our party may be difficult to come out of it in the near future, the formation may not be the best option.
“Let me tell you, this agitation for formation of new party is not only in the PDP, it is also in the APC where some leaders are not
happy the way they are treated.”
