One of those claiming to be the governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has sent a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari over the activities of some members of staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The petition was also sent to the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu.

Ibrahim alleged that a member of staff of the commission demanded $1m bribe from him before she could collect his nomination papers from him.

He brandished a copy of the petition at a press conference he addressed in Abuja on Sunday.

In the petition, which was dated October 21, Ibrahim alleged that the affected member of staff (name withheld), insisted that she must be paid the amount before she could obey the court order that asked the commission to put his name as the candidate of the PDP.

The Chief Press Secretary to the chairman of the commission, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, said there was no iota of truth in Ibrahim’s allegation.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, has said many aggrieved members of the party had agreed to work with him.
