The Ondo State All Progressives Congress has condemned the Alliance for Democracy’s candidate, Chief Olusola Oke, for shedding tears while campaigning in Epe community, Ondo-East Local Government Area on Monday.

Oke, who inaugurated his campaign in Epe community, on Monday, shed tears while addressing the people of the community as he lamented the deplorable condition of the roads in Epe.

Speaking with our correspondent on the development, the Deputy Chairman, Ondo APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, on Tuesday, alleged that Oke was only shedding tears to deceive the people of the state.

He alleged that that was how the incumbent governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, shed tears in various communities of the state when he was soliciting for votes in 2007.

Adetimehin alleged that Mimiko failed to deliver on the electoral promises he made to Ondo people.

He noted that the people of the state would support someone with integrity and who had the love of the masses at heart.

He stressed that the APC’s candidate, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, was the best of all the candidates participating in the election.

Adetimehin said, “Oke’s political gimmick can no longer work in our dear state again. Our people are wiser and they are ready to cast their votes for someone who has integrity. One would wonder why Oke cried? We are no longer mourning and I believe we have enough resources on the ground to change the fortunes of the state.

“If Oke could cried over the abandoned road project in Epe, Oke needs to answer some questions being raised by his kinsmen on why he abandoned the projects that would have lifted the standard of living of the people in Ilaje when he was representing the state on the Niger Delta Development Commission board and when he was the Chairman of OSOPADEC?”

He advised the people to reject the AD and Oke, saying the state did not need a governor that would be weeping without acting on critical issues.

Reacting, the Director General of Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation, Mr. Bola Ilori, said the APC did not have the love of the people at heart because they were happy with the current condition of the state.

He said, “Oke cried because he felt bad with the condition of the road to Epe but if the APC people do not see anything wrong with the way our state is, that means they are not concerned with the plight of the people.”

Ilori called on the people of the state not to vote for the APC in the November 26 governorship election. He said the APC had no plan for the people of the state.
