After a long wait; they seem to have decided to wade in and address the issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued incarceration. Their decision to come in should not yet be celebrated; they are here to ask for a compromise which is too costly. In their various senatorial zones; the people that voted them are clamoring for them to do something about their leader illegally incarcerated. They yet cannot deny the fact that they would go down in history as honorable men who fought for their people if they give the people Nnamdi Kanu.

Nnamdi Kanu as a political prisoner means that Buhari has hijacked the Nigerian Judiciary which puts them under the influence. Even the present trial Judge cannot independently handle the matter; there seems to be ongoing effort to force Nnamdi Kanu into compromise.

The Southeast Senators must have met Buhari, and he might have indicated his willingness to free Nnamdi Kanu but wants the Senators to talk to him. This is another move without any atom of sense; Nnamdi Kanu has the mandate of over 70 million Biafrans and one thinks by locking him up and forcing him to conform is meaningful.

Talking to Nnamdi Kanu is a good idea but anything that has to do with compromise is dead on arrival. It is imperative to understand that Nnamdi Kanu is exercising his right and would see it as illegal to try to conform him. The Senators are very much free to talk to Nnamdi Kanu but it is insulting to them that they are talking to a prisoner and not a free man.

The first thing the senators should have done was to ask Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu and then they can talk to Nnamdi Kanu; debate and superior reason would prevail. I have always made it clear that Biafra has surpassed the stage that a mere visit can change anything. It is Biafra or death and they seem to be unaware of the efficacy of this slogan. Biafra question cannot be answered by incarcerating Nnamdi Kanu and urging people to talk to him; it would rather worsen everything.

The visit of the Senators seems to be vital to the court ruling coming up on 1st of December; it can be understood that everybody is tired of the case. Everybody is looking for a way to end this potential civil war but locking up the spark plug and meeting him for a discussion is as useless as anything one can imagine. It is more offensive trying to get a result under duress; by locking Nnamdi Kanu up and meeting him to promise one thing or another, I fear it would heat up the polity because subjugation and slavery had always been a weapon against the people of Biafra.

Buhari must face reality and stop running away from what is before him; force or incarceration can not suppress Nnamdi Kanu. Biafra is an ideology and deep matter that needs dialogue and peaceful solution. Locking up Nnamdi Kanu and then smartly trying to show you can be strong or a tyrant will only give the people of Biafra reason to go on fighting for pride and who they are. It happened during the civil war; how many you kill does not matter, Biafrans keep fighting until you recognize their strength and play to it.

Binta Nyako must be very much careful of her position; this matter has been politicized that it has the tendency of damaging one’s pedigree or legacy.

The Judiciary has been made worthless by virtue of being controlled by the executive. There is the need to bravely approach the matter; live to every legal expectation because there is nothing more left to hold onto, Self-determination cannot be a crime neither can peaceful agitation be.

The meeting of Nnamdi Kanu by Senators should not in any way affect the bail application before her. It is a huge disappointment that the Court of nowadays in Nigeria do justice by influence or order.

Nnamdi Kanu would not compromise on his agitation; the visit by Senators is highly uncalled for, we must be answerable to our actions. The act of meeting a political prisoner in prison to seek a trade shows how much the Senators have failed. Biafra has gone beyond meeting the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra in detention and talking to him. Biafra is about releasing him and addressing the demand of over 70 million people he holds their mandate.
