Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered the Lecturers at the Abia State Polytechnic Aba to immediately resume their various classes on Monday 6th February 2017 or face sanction.
Ikpeazu handed down the order through his Commissioner Of Education Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji,saying anyone who refused to obey the directives of the Chief Executive Officer of the State,will be releived of his or her Position.
“Employees who fail and/or refuse to show up for work on the new resumption date shall be deemed to have resigned their appointments”
The Governor also directed the Newly appointed Management of the State Owned Polytechnic to ensure that full academic activities begins Tomorrow.
“The new management must ensure that school activities resume by Monday 6 February 2017.”
Abia State polytechnic is a tertiary institution that is financially independent of the government. The Institution collects billions of naira yearly in revenue which It does not transfer to the State government.
But revelations coming out from the Abia State Ministry Of Education has shown that the sacked Management was guilty of financial recklessness . It was gathered that the immediate dissolved Management used a whopping 26 million naira to renovate a room, N160 million to clear bush in Osisioma, employed 95 gatemen for a compound that is already walled,had 42 staff in an empty bookstore, 2 of whom earn more than N400,000 per month,lavishes N30 million monthly overhead of paper and diesel and employed More than 1000 non-Teaching staff,a development that angered the Abia State Government
