The Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), in Anambra State, has given an automatic ticket to a royal father, the Ezeudo II of Awka-Etiti, His Royal Majesty, Chuma Angus Ojukwu, Agujiugo 1 as its consensus candidate in the November 18, 2017 governorship election in the state.
Chairman of the party in the state, Amb. Samuel Anidike, on Monday, presented Igwe Ojukwu to MPPP members and other supporters of the party at his palace palace in Awka-Etiti.
In his acceptance speech, Igwe Ojukwu whose Igweship of his community was still in contention as one Engineer Eze Udonna has already been given a certificate of recognition as the Igwe of Awka-Etiti by Governor Willie Obiano which matter was still pending in court in Suit No. HID/297/2016.
The monarch then presented to the public his poster for the election which was captioned, King-David versus Obiano-Goliath.
The MPPP candidate unfolded a 10-point agenda for the people of the state,if he became governor. The agenda included free and compulsory primary and secondary education in Anambra STate, free health services for all, resuscitation of Onitsha water scheme and provision of potable water for all communities in the State, creation of employment opportunities, security and social welfare with emphasis on relieving the sufferings of Anambra people.
Igwe Ojukwu expressed confidence that he would win the governorship election and be sworn in as the next Governor of Anambra State by March next year. He said he had already fashioned out strategies on how he would chase the sitting Governor out of the Government House.
According to him, since Governor Obiano failed to recognise him as the Igwe of Awka-Etiti, he would contest and defeat him at polls, insisting that it would be a replay of the biblical case of David and Goliath.
The MPPP candidate, who had the picture of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and insignia of the group, at the background of his poster, said he was until recently the Assistant National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but later defected to the MPPP to actualise his governorship ambition and to serve as a revenge against what he described as injustice meted out to him by the Governor Obiano-led APGA government.
He declared APGA as a dead party in Anambra and dismissed the impression that the party was an Igbo party “since its presence could not be felt in any other State in the South East geo-political zone. He said the final burial of the party would be on November 18 this year when the incumbent Governor must have been voted out of office.
