WAEC 2017: Ikpeazu Awards Scholarship To 17 Abia Best Performed Students

As a Boost to their Academic Pursuits,the Governor Of Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has today awarded Scholarship to Each of the overall best performers in the recently released result from the 2017 West African Examination Council in the 17 Local Government Area of Abia State

 Ikpeazu while  congratulating the  students of the state who wrote the 2017 West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) assured that his administration will continue to work hard to ensure that the state maintains its prime position in education in Nigeria and re-stated his commitment to construct new model schools that are equipped with modern learning tools and resources across the state before the end of the year.

In a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Enyinnaya Appolos, the Governor applauded the students and their teachers for a job well done and vowed to prioritize the welfare of teachers within the state’s school system.

Ikpeazu directed  the newly inaugurated state scholarship board to ensure that the best performing student from each of the 17 local government areas is given tertiary education scholarship to study in any school in Nigeria.

The result of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior School Certificate Examination was released on Monday, July 17. The information was released via the official twitter page of the exam body.

According to the report, 1,567,016 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,559,162 candidates sat the examination. Of those that wrote the examination, 923,486 candidates, representing. 59.22%, obtained minimum of credits in 5 subjects & above, including English Language and Mathematics.

PUO REPORTS that Abia State, which presented 51,839 candidates recorded 81.54 per cent of students who obtained five credits with English Language and Mathematics.
