Two die in Lagos building collapse

At least 14 persons were rescued alive and two lives were lost after a four-storey building collapsed in Lagos Island, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said.
According to a statement by the General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, the incident occurred at about 2.43 pm on Tuesday at number 3, Massey Street in Lagos Island.
The joint recovery operation was undertaken by the LASEMA Response Unit, the National Emergency Management Agency, the Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Lagos State Fire Service.
    
“Others include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Red Cross and the police.
“Heavy-duty equipment presently searching through the rubble,” Tiamiyu added.
According to LASEMA, the rescue operation is ongoing.
