The conduct of the Local Government Congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers state is not going down well with some party bigwigs.

The APC in the state announced its decision to conduct Local government congress after a meeting in Port Harcourt.

State Chairman of the party, Davies Ibyiamu-Ikanya after the meeting announced the venues and locations of where the congress will be conducted in the 23 Local government areas of Rivers state.

Meanwhile, Senator Representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe criticized the manner in which the congress is being conducted.

Abe who claimed he was not invited to the stakeholders meeting, alleged that there are a lot of cover-ups in the conduct of the congress.

He said, “We got information that leaders of the party were meeting and we went there only for us to get there and found out the meeting has ended. Then someone said no, that they relocated the meeting to the party secretariat. Here we are at the party secretariat. No one is here. It is under lock and key.

“But you ask how can leaders of a party be holding a meeting and members of the party at the National Assembly are not in attendance?

“We can’t continue like this.”

A chieftain of the APC and former Commissioner for Agriculture in Rivers state, Emma Chinda said the APC LGA congresses is being held in line with the directives of the National leadership of the party.
