New Liverpool signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said on Thursday the thought of working with the club’s German manager Juergen Klopp was incredibly appealing and helped sway his decision to move to Merseyside.

The deadline-day signing from Arsenal of Oxlade-Chamberlain — a player Klopp believes can become a Liverpool great — adds more firepower to an attack already boasting Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Oxlade-Chamberlain said, “Even as a neutral watching him last season, you see he’s a really interesting character and someone who seems very inspiring for people who aren’t even involved in the club, you know watching him and his passion and how much he cares about the game and I think the thing that stood out for me was his relationship with the players, how close he seems to bond with the players, on and off the field as well, and I think that’s massive and definitely a big plus when you’re looking to progress and have that relationship with the manager, I think that definitely helps.
“Then obviously the way his team’s played, when he gets the boys playing, that’s definitely inspirational as well, and for me was one of the instrumental, if not the main reason why I felt this place was definitely the place for me.”
Last season, Klopp’s side took 20 points from their matches against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, City, United, and Arsenal — more than any other club — and the recent demolition of Arsenal maintained their great form against the big clubs.
