REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez has told David De Gea to reject a new Manchester United contract.
Reports this week claimed the Red Devils will open talks with De Gea over a new deal in the coming weeks.
The Spain goalkeeper, 26, is under contract until the summer of 2019.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a Red Devils exit in recent months.
Real are keen on the 26-year-old, with the La Liga champions desperate to replace Keylor Navas at the Bernabeu.
De Gea nearly joined Real in 2015 but a late fax halted any hope of a move.
And according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Real president Perez has told De Gea to snub a new contract.
“Real Madrid have told David De Gea to reject a new Manchester United contract”
They say the goalkeeper is in no rush to sign a bumper United deal.
Perez has told De Gea he will match whatever wages Jose Mourinho offers him in negotiations.
Diario Gol add that De Gea knows if he impresses at the World Cup next summer, he can demand more money and his price tag will rise.
Mourinho is desperate to tie down his star man and he wants De Gea to pen the new deal by the end of the year.
