Benfica manager Jose Mourinho could be on course for a surprising return to the Premier League amid growing speculation about his future.
Mourinho has previously managed top English clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Since leaving England, the 63 year old has taken up roles at Roma, Fenerbahce and Benfica.
According to talkSPORT, Mourinho is attracting interest from Newcastle United and may be considered as a potential replacement for current manager Eddie Howe.
Howe is facing mounting pressure at St James’ Park as the team continues to struggle with form and results.
Although the Magpies secured the Carabao Cup last season, they are currently enduring a difficult campaign and sit 14th in the league standings.
Newcastle’s Saudi owners are reportedly eager to appoint a high profile manager this summer, with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini also said to be in contention.
