Abia State Government has asked Traders Especially those in Aria International Market in Aba to go about their normal Business Activities on Saturday 18th November 2017.
The Government advise is coming after it was gathered that some Yet to be Identified groups were Circulating a Leaflet in Aba,asking Traders to stay at home on Saturday .
But In a Statement Released on Friday By Mr John Okiyi Kalu, the Commissioner For Information in Abia State, traders and members of the public were urged to ignore the publication and its content and go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.
“The attention of Abia State Government has been drawn to the circulating leaflets, distributed by yet to be identified individuals, directing the traders at Ariaria International Market and other markets at Aba and Umuahia to close their shops and businesses on Saturday 18th November 2017 and stay at home”.
“While the circulating leaflets stated that the “stay at home” directive is in solidarity with a certain group’s decision to boycott tomorrow’s Governorship election in Anambra State, it is important to note that the election is not holding within Abia State territory”.
“The government therefore wishes to enjoin traders and members of the public to ignore the publication and its content and go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, as law enforcement agents will continue to keep the prevailing peace in the state”.
“Members of the public are also advised to report anyone circulating the inciting leaflets to law enforcement agents for appropriate actions”.The Statement Concluded
