Abia women canvass support for Ikpeazu’s re-election

Abia women under the umbrella of Abia Women Assembly have called forthe support of the people of Ukwa la Ngwa area of Abia State for the re-pelection of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2019.

The women, led by the former Commissioner for Transport and Director General for Women Mobilization, Chief (Barr) Nnenna Obewu, appealed for support for the Governor during a courtesy visit to traditional rulers of Ukwa/Ngwa area of the state at the palace of the Chairman of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Eberechi Dick.

Speaking during the visit, Barr Obewu highlighted the achievements of theIkpeazu administration, especially in the area of women empowerment, road construction and promotion of local enterprises and called on thetraditional rulers to use their position as royal father’s to appeal to their subjects to acquire permanent voters cards (PVC) to enable them vote forthe Governor in 2019 to continue his transformative leadership of Abiastate.

According to her, “Abia State is blessed to have Dr Okezie Ikpeazu piloting her affairs at this auspicious time in history as he is leading our people to prosperity even at a difficult economic time for Nigeria. His numerous achievements ans laudable programs eloquently confirm the wisdom of Abians who elected him in 2015 and as stakeholders in the Abia project, we are here to solicit the support of our royal fathers to ensure that he is re-elected in 2019 to continue his laudable programs in the state”.

Responding, Eze Eberechi Dick thanked the women for the visit and assured them that the Ukwa la Ngwa people are committed to the re-election of Governor Ikpeazu for a second term in office.

He said: “in 2014 when we poured libation in this palace for then aspirant Okezie Ikpeazu we asked our ancestors to lead and guide him through his eight years tenure and his performance so far has made Ukwa la Ngwa people proud. Others before him served for 8 years and he will certainly serve for 8 years. We and our subjects will certainly support the re-election of the Governor in 2019.”

A motion for the adoption of Governor Ikpeazu as the sole candidate of Ukwa la Ngwa people was later moved by Eze Love Nwogu, Chairman of Aba North Tradditiinal Rulers Council, seconded by his colleague from Ukwa west and approved by all the traditional rulers.
