Exactly two years ago, the long neglected Aba Enyimba Hotel was flagged off by Governor Ikpeazu’s led administration to undergo remodelling and reconstruction.

IGBERE TV recalls that the Five Star Hotel (Otherwise known as, Enyimba Hotel) was built in 1982 by late Chief Sam Mbakwe. Ever since then the hotel has been abandoned until it was being flagged off by Gov Ikpeazu on August 2nd, 2016.

In a bid to give the Hotel the best interface after remodelling, Gov, Ikpeazu led Abia State Government partnered with Swiss International Hotel Limited.

Flagging off the proposed reconstruction of the hotel, Ikpeazu said that when completed, the Hotel will help in the employment of the teeming populace.

IGBERE TV gathered that it was the Aba Chamber of Commerce that felicitated the partnership between the Abia State government and the Swiss International Hotel Limited.

Speaking during the event, the chairman, Aba Chamber of commerce, Nze Marculey Nwankwo stated that the hotel which has a total of 14.28 archers of land with a registration number RC 28277 was built in 1982 by Sam Mbakwe.

Mr. Marculey Nwankwo stated that the renovation of the five star Hotel is a milestone in Dr. Ikpeazu’s administration.

But contrary to the state government claims, the hotel which was flagged off to undergo remodelling and reconstruction has yet been abandoned by the present administration of Governor Ikpeazu despite allegedly spending billions of Abia Tax payers’ money.

When ABACITYBLOG correspondent visited the abandoned hotel located at Ogbor Hill, behind the abattoir at the Ogbor Hill in Aba North LGA, Abia State – The place has become the home of reptiles and wild animals.

The smelly environment could not allow even the less privilege roaming the streets to find shelter in it as the environment has turned to a place for open defecation

While the Gov, Ikpeazu has continued flagging off projects across the state, there is a need for one to recall the old projects which has been flagged off but are yet to be completed.

Meanwhile, ABACITYBLOG also recalled that the flagging off of the Enyimba Hotel by Ikpeazu’s government, was during the legal battle between the governor and Dr. Alex Otti (the 2015 Abia State gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA).

One may ask, could it been that the hotel being one of the most talked about projects was flagged by Ikpeazu to gain sympathy from the people of Abia?

Lest we forget that it was during the period of the legal battle between Ikpeazu and Otti that the governor extended the time for Tricycle operators in Aba to operate till 9pm which he later restricted to 6pm after he have won at the supreme court.
