James Maddison has decided to join Leicester City and move back to his native Midlands area

Norwich midfielder James Maddison has chosen to join Leicester City over Southampton, according to Sky sources.

The 21-year-old is understood to prefer a move back to his native Midlands area and be closer to his family home in Coventry, where he was born.

And Maddison will undergo a medical and finalise personal terms with the Foxes later on Monday, Sky Sports News understands.

Sky Sports News reported on Sunday that both Leicester and Southampton had agreed packages worth in the region of £22million with Norwich to sign the England U21.

Maddison, who signed for the Canaries from hometown-club Coventry in 2016, has also been of interest to Everton and Fulham this summer.

And the promising playmaker has been scouted by top-four clubs Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City since his time at the Sky Blues.

Maddison scored 15 goals last season and, with their parachute payments due to end this year, Norwich have been willing to cash in on their most valuable player.
