Police arrest 15 suspected kidnappers, rapists, robbers in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects for various offences across the state ranging from kidnapping, murder and armed robbery.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Kamal Abubabakar, while parading the suspects before newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday at the Command’s headquarters, said that the suspects were arrested at different locations across the state.

He said that on July 10, 2018, at about 4pm, a team of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Bauchi, who acted on credible intelligence report, arrested two suspects who were in possession of pump action gun and a cutlass.

He gave the names of the suspects as Yakubu Adamu, male, (23) and Dalha Mamman, male, (42), all of Burga Village in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Kamal, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “The suspects had on 19/02/2018, stormed the residence of one Ahmadu Adamu, male, (65) of Zungur Dutse Village, Bauchi LGA and robbed him of his phone.

“They thereafter shot him dead and kidnapped some women to Tashan Mai-Alewa mountain where they raped them repeatedly and demanded N1m as ransom before releasing them.”

He gave the names of the victims as Hajja Adama, (20), Aisha Adamu, (18), Binta Adamu, (27) and Ramatu Idris (13), all females of Zungur Dutse and Buzaye village.

The police operatives attached to Darazo Police Station, the PPRO said, arrested Abdullahi Garba, (22), Adamu Abdullahi (26), Abdullahi Galadima, (25) and Babangida Yusuf (23), all males of Darazo LGA of Bauchi State.

He said the suspects were arrested on July 23, 2018, at about 2 pm.

“On the 17/7/2018, at about 8 pm, the first suspect, Abdullahi Garba, aka Cannabaro, criminally deceived one Umar Shuaibu, male, (25) to convey him on his Boxer Bajaj Motorcycle valued at N240, 000 only to Zoro village in the Darazo LGA.

“While on their way in the bush, the said Abdullahi Garba and Abdullahi Galadima hit the victim, Umar Shuaibu with an iron rod and also stabbed him with a knife several times and as a result, he died on the spot. They then went away with his motorcycle,” he stated.

He said that the suspects confessed to the crime and were undergoing investigation.

The police spokesman informed newsmen that following a tip-off on  July 16, at about 5.30pm, operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau of the Command, arrested one Abdullahi, male, (25) at the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi State.
